Labor Day: You're not meant to carry it all

Happy Labor Day?

A call for reflection

Reader

Hola!!!

What if Labor Day isn't just about honoring work?

What if it is also an invitation to ask:

What am I working so hard to hold that God never asked me to carry? What is it that I am carrying that's not mine?

So many of us have become experts at carrying.

We carry our families.
We carry our businesses.
We carry our communities.
We carry our children’s emotions.
We carry our parents.
We carry our unprocessed grief.
We carry impossible expectations.
We carry everyone else's needs.

And somewhere along the way, we learned to call that strength. Sounds familiar? It is for me; it took me years to MIND MY BUSINESS!

You laugh but I am serious, so often I was minding everyone's business; literally. And often forget my own.

BUT; I was called 'strong', resilient, no nonsense. And if I am honest. I liked it! I never wanted to be called weak. I am a problem solver, reliant, intremedida.

NOPE:

My body and Yours may know the difference before your mind does.

The tight shoulders.
The clenched jaw.
The shallow breath.
The exhaustion that sleep doesn't seem to fix.
The irritability.
The feeling that you just want everyone to leave you alone for five minutes.

Your nervous system may be whispering:

“I cannot keep doing this at this pace.”

And maybe that's not weakness.

A Labor Day reflection on rest, seasons, and the wisdom of the body

Labor Day often arrives as summer begins to soften.

The days are getting shorter.
The mornings feel a little different.
There is a subtle shift in the air.

Nature doesn’t resist the changing of seasons.

The trees don’t apologize for letting go.

The flowers don’t question whether they’ve done enough before they begin to fade.

The earth simply trusts the process.

Ask yourself:

What am I ready to stop carrying into this next season?

Write down whatever comes.

Then choose one small thing you can release this week.

Not ten.

Not twenty.

One.

Because restoration doesn't always begin with a major life change.

Sometimes it begins with one deep breath…

one boundary…

one honest “no”…

one afternoon of rest…

one decision to stop abandoning yourself.
